Selph Health Care Agency deploys a direct care staff through Waiver Nursing Delegation (WND) service to individuals who need help with health care tasks, such as:

• Insulin
• Tube feedings
• Other tasks the nurse agrees to teach direct care to do

WND Assessment

The registered nurse (RN) evaluates the individual’s health to see if it is safe for a direct care staff to do the nursing tasks. WND assessment is implemented with the following process:

• Nursing Delegation – Consultation
• Speak with the individual’s doctor about the nursing tasks to be performed
• Make sure the care provider meets the criteria to perform the nursing tasks and can do so safely
• Talk with the individual about how the direct care staff is doing
• Discuss the issues/questions related to the nursing tasks with the care provider
